SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS enters the Maldives with a different point of view

The Maldives has long operated within a familiar framework of luxury, one that relies on seclusion, scale, and a predictable sense of escape. SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS enters that landscape with a different point of view, one that places equal weight on cultural depth, design, and the structure of the guest experience itself.
Founded by Laith Pharaon, whose background spans some of the most influential lifestyle hospitality concepts globally, the brand is built as a constellation rather than a single destination. Six private islands will be developed over six years, each with its own identity, architecture, and rhythm, yet aligned through a shared philosophy that prioritizes presence, individuality, and a more grounded sense of luxury.
The approach is deliberate. Each island is designed as a complete expression rather than a variation of a central model. The intention is not consistency, but coherence, allowing each location to develop its own character while maintaining a clear standard of experience across the portfolio.
At the center of this philosophy is Rayyithun, a concept drawn from the Maldives itself, referring to the People of the Islands. It operates as more than a cultural reference. It shapes how the resorts are built, how they function, and how guests engage with the environment around them. The presence of local knowledge is integrated into the structure of the experience, from the sourcing of materials to the rhythms of daily life on each island.

This is most clearly expressed through the Edhurun programme. Positioned as a reworking of the traditional butler role, the Edhurun operates with a different framework, closer to a guide or mentor, someone who understands both the island and the guest, and can navigate between the two with subtlety. The emphasis is placed on awareness rather than visibility, allowing service to feel intuitive and informed without becoming overly present.
The first two islands introduce the direction of the brand with clarity. Rah Gili Maldives, opening in early 2026, is set within a protected dolphin sanctuary and built around a narrative that connects design, culture, and environment. With 74 villas, including a significant number of overwater options, the island is structured to balance social energy with quieter, more reflective spaces.
Later in the year, Don Maaga Maldives expands the scale of the concept. Positioned as the brand’s ultra luxury flagship, the property introduces larger villa formats, including TERRA∞ beachfront residences and AETHR∞ overwater villas, some extending beyond 1,500 square meters. The architecture leans into openness while maintaining defined zones for privacy, with features such as dual water systems, open courtyards, and carefully segmented living areas that allow for extended stays without compromise.
Within Don Maaga, the introduction of HIRIGAA, an invitation only private island, signals a further shift toward complete ownership of space. It is a concept that aligns with a growing demand for privacy at a scale that extends beyond the individual villa, offering full island takeovers within a curated framework.

The brand also extends into residential ownership through SIX & SIX PRIVATE RESIDENCES, allowing guests to move beyond short term stays and establish a more permanent connection to the islands. These residences are integrated into the broader resort structure, providing access to services, programming, and infrastructure, while maintaining a level of independence that reflects long term use.
Environmental considerations are embedded from the outset. Each property is designed to meet EarthCheck certification standards, with systems that include solar integration, water desalination and bottling, and the elimination of single use plastics. Marine conservation and community partnerships are treated as operational elements rather than external initiatives, shaping both the development process and the guest experience.
SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS arrives at a moment when expectations around luxury hospitality continue to evolve. Its position is defined through structure rather than statement, with a focus on how each element, design, service, culture, and environment, operates together.
Across its first two openings and the wider six island vision, the brand establishes a clear direction. One that prioritizes clarity of concept, depth of experience, and a more considered relationship between place and guest.
